Our barn restoration started in earnest a week ago and popped up today to ensure the team were happy – well, keeping my eye on them really 😂

All the scaffolding is down, the rear pointing raked out, inside virtually stripped out and the site cabin has been established in an outbuilding.

Tomorrow is a scheduled visit by the project manager, structural engineer and building control, where they will establish what elements can and cannot be removed. Once this is clear, the contractor can reinstall scaffolding to ensure stability and crack on.

The new roof timbers, frame and other materials should all land in the next week. Once the roof is back on, re-using the old flags, the appearance will change massively.

There has been a lot of local interest since the contractors started, so we hope to secure a sale prior to completion, which then allows the new owner to make personal choices too.

And of course no site would be the same without a site office…
