We’ve all been locked down for over a year now (yes I know there have been odd spells of normality) and one thing I have missed are holidays.
Now, the ‘rules’ are still not clear on overseas travel and whatever the UK government guidelines reveal, other countries may not agree, so for me it remains up in the air.
What this last year has shown us, is we can enjoy our own country and there has been a massive increase in the ‘staycation’. Personally, I really like the UK, especially The Lake District, but the one thing we are let down with is the weather. Despite that, I decided enough was enough and booked a lovely, rural cottage for a few nights stay.
Having a dog, you are somewhat limited to places who accept pets and hotels are virtually a no go. There are a number of excellent dog friendly holiday cottage websites and I was lucky enough to get availability in May for this absolute cracker. As is often the case, this is an old barn, converted by the owner, who remains on-site. It is set in acres of farmland and the local pub is only a short walk away – bliss!
